Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is seeking the reinstatement of his taxpayer-funded security following an alleged threat from an individual near his new residence. The incident occurred while the former Duke of York was walking his dogs on the Sandringham Estate, where a man wearing a balaclava reportedly approached him. The individual, identified as Alex Jenkinson, 39, was apprehended and charged with using threatening language and behavior towards Andrew. Additionally, Jenkinson faced charges for failing to provide a blood sample while in custody.

Although Andrew was unharmed in the encounter, he was reportedly left shaken and is advocating for the restoration of his private security detail. Despite losing his royal titles and privileges in 2025 and having his personal allowance and security withdrawn by King Charles in 2024, Andrew currently maintains a private security team. Sources close to the ex-prince have expressed concerns about the adequacy of his security arrangements, emphasizing the need for a thorough review to ensure his safety.

Notably, Norfolk Police confirmed the arrest of a man in Wolferton following reports of intimidating behavior in the village. The suspect was charged with a public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon, subsequently being detained for questioning and scheduled to appear in court.

Recent developments also revealed the presence of a mobile home at Andrew’s new residence on March Farm, intended to accommodate his security personnel. This setup contrasts with his previous living arrangements at the Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor, where ample space could have accommodated security and staff. Andrew’s relocation to the Sandringham Estate this year marked a significant shift from his long-term residence at Royal Lodge.

The evolving situation underscores the ongoing security concerns surrounding Andrew, prompting calls for a comprehensive reassessment of his protection measures to align with his high-profile status and ensure his well-being.
