A 20-year-old female football player, Oteta Kristina Kitiona, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy and sending him explicit photos. The incidents allegedly took place in Utah in 2024 when Kitiona was 19 years old.
Kitiona, who recently participated in Samoa’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 qualifying squad, is facing allegations of engaging in inappropriate behavior with the teenager over a six-month period. Court documents reveal that the abuse occurred prior to Kitiona attending college.
The boy reported to the authorities that Kitiona would visit his residence two to three times weekly for sexual encounters between June and October 2024. The “relationship” reportedly paused when Kitiona began college at Bellevue College in Washington state but resumed upon her return home a month later.
During this break, Kitiona allegedly sent the boy explicit photos and videos showing herself completely nude. The court records also indicate that she purportedly encouraged him to send nude images of himself, even while showering.
The legal age of consent in Utah is 18 years old. Kitiona was charged two months after her involvement with the Samoan national women’s football team during the World Cup qualifying campaign in February. She is facing charges of distributing harmful material to a minor and three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor under 21 years old.
Kitiona is scheduled to appear in court on June 6.
