A woman in her forties has been taken into custody on allegations of instructing asylum seekers to provide false information to stay in the UK. Home Office minister Mike Tapp released a video showing immigration enforcement officers conducting a search at a residence in London as part of an investigation into suspected unethical immigration advisors.

In the footage, Mr Tapp firmly stated, “We will not tolerate this behavior.” He revealed that the accused individual was supposedly advising asylum seekers to falsely claim to be homosexual to prolong their stay in the country. According to Mr Tapp, advisors found facilitating such actions are exploiting and compromising the immigration system, potentially granting asylum to individuals who do not qualify.

The arrested suspect faces charges related to offering illegal immigration services, while a man in his early twenties was also apprehended on suspicion of involvement in fraudulent activities connected to the case. Mr Tapp, the immigration minister, vowed to pursue and arrest any lawyers or advisors providing deceptive advice, emphasizing the importance of the asylum system for genuine refugees fleeing persecution and conflict.

In a recent event captured on camera, officers entered a property in the capital alongside Mr Tapp. Earlier this year, a BBC investigation uncovered a network of law firms and advisors assisting migrants in fabricating false narratives, such as claiming to be gay, to support their asylum applications.

Responding to these revelations, the Home Office warned that individuals attempting to exploit the system will face legal consequences, including deportation. Reports indicated that some lawyers were charging exorbitant fees, up to £7,000, to aid in filing fraudulent asylum claims. The investigation also revealed instances where lawyers admitted to helping clients feign being gay or atheists to secure asylum status.
