Voting is currently taking place in the UK’s largest series of elections since 2024. Polling stations opened at 7 am in England, Scotland, and Wales, and we have compiled a collection of notable images from around the country. Among these visuals are quirky polling locations like a caravan in Duxford and a portakabin in Neve, as well as political leaders exercising their voting rights and numerous canine companions.
A total of 5,013 councilors are up for election, with contests being held for 134 out of the country’s 317 councils. These include 32 London boroughs, six county councils, and six unitary authorities, including the recently established East Surrey and West Surrey.
One image captures a dog patiently waiting outside a polling station in Hartlepool during the local elections. In another scene, a dog is seen outside the Pollokshields polling station in Glasgow. A caravan serving as a polling station welcomes voters in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, while voters queue at a polling station in Walton on the Naze set up in a Portakabin.
The first political leader seen voting was Keir Starmer at Westminster Chapel in central London, accompanied by his wife, Lady Victoria Starmer. An image shows a worker setting up a sign reminding voters to bring their identification. Another dog sighting features a canine waiting outside a polling station in Wimbledon, and a dog posing for a photo after its owner voted at City Hall in St Davids, Wales.
Reform leader Nigel Farage makes his way to cast his vote, while Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar is photographed with his wife, Furheen Ashrif, and their children. Welsh First Minister and Labour Leader Eluned Morgan leaves after casting her vote, and Scotland’s First Minister and SNP leader, John Swinney, is pictured waving alongside his wife, Elizabeth, after voting.
