A woman is in critical condition after collapsing unexpectedly during a vacation in Bali. Luca Loveday, a 29-year-old Australian tourist, was dining at a local restaurant with her friend when she suddenly began shaking and fell to the ground, hitting her head on a table and then on the floor.
As a result of the incident, Luca sustained severe injuries including multiple brain bleeds, a fractured skull, brain swelling, and air in her brain, requiring her to be hospitalized in the ICU. Her current condition has made it impossible for her to return home.
Luca’s family, led by her sister Rikki Loveday, has been by her side throughout this distressing situation. Rikki mentioned that the trip was highly anticipated by Luca, who was excited to unwind in Bali after working abroad.
Doctors are still investigating the cause of Luca’s collapse, considering possibilities such as a seizure, fainting spell, or the effects of the local climate. Despite ongoing medical care, it remains uncertain how long Luca will need to stay in the hospital.
The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the escalating medical expenses as Luca’s insurance does not provide full coverage. The support has been overwhelming, with over £13,000 raised so far to assist with ICU treatment, ongoing care, and eventual repatriation to Australia.
While dealing with the challenges of managing medical care in a foreign country, Luca’s family remains steadfastly by her side in Bali. Rikki expressed the emotional toll of the situation, emphasizing the strength needed to navigate through this difficult time.
