A suicide note purportedly penned by notorious criminal and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein has been unveiled after being kept confidential since his passing in 2019. The note, as detailed by The New York Times, states: “They investigated me for months — FOUND NOTHING!!!’. Epstein expresses his sentiments about choosing the timing of his farewell and questions whether he should break down in tears. The note concludes with ‘NO FUN’ and ‘NOT WORTH IT!!’, with the latter phrase underlined.
The note, lacking a signature, was reportedly discovered following Epstein’s initial unsuccessful suicide attempt in July 2019. Shortly after this incident, Epstein made a subsequent attempt that proved fatal. He took his own life on August 10 at the age of 66 inside his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City. Epstein was found with an orange cloth around his neck and visible marks on his neck in July 2019. According to a report by the US Department of Justice’s office of the inspector general, Epstein’s cellmate disclosed his attempt to hang himself.
Despite being placed on suicide watch after the earlier incident, Epstein denied having suicidal thoughts. The note was unsealed by a federal judge on May 6, following a recent report in The New York Times that revealed its existence. It was Nicholas Tartaglione, Epstein’s cellmate, who discovered the note after the failed suicide attempt, leading to its inclusion in his own legal case. Epstein faced multiple sex-trafficking charges dating back to alleged incidents between 2002 and 2005, some involving the sexual exploitation of minors as young as 14.
