Authorities are currently looking into an incident where a passenger jet made contact with a light pole upon landing. The event occurred at Newark Liberty International Airport on Sunday, May 3, involving a United Airlines aircraft arriving from Venice, Italy. The Boeing 767 landed safely but hit a light pole near the New Jersey Turnpike during its final approach.

United Airlines confirmed that the flight touched the light pole during landing but managed to safely taxi to the gate without any injuries to passengers or crew. The maintenance team is assessing the damage to the plane, and the crew has been temporarily reassigned pending a thorough flight safety investigation.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced an investigation into the incident and requested the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder from United Airlines for analysis. An NTSB investigator is set to arrive in Newark on Monday, with a preliminary report expected within a month.
