Police are searching for a violent attacker who assaulted an elderly man with a machete in Glasgow. The disturbing incident occurred shortly after the man was stabbed in a car. Upon receiving a report of the assault, emergency services, including armed officers and a K-9 unit, swiftly responded to the scene.
The 77-year-old victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was rushed to the hospital. It is reported that he was initially stabbed inside a black Mercedes and then bravely confronted the assailant as he tried to access the car’s trunk.
In the video footage, the assailant is seen pushing the victim aside while brandishing the weapon before proceeding to open the trunk. Clad in black attire, the perpetrator viciously attacked the man with a large blade as he attempted to take bin bags from the vehicle. Despite the victim’s efforts to evade the blows, the attacker managed to seize one of the bags and discard it on the ground.
Subsequently, the Mercedes was impounded by the authorities, and the search for the assailant is ongoing. A spokesperson from Police Scotland stated that the serious assault was reported at Auckland Wynd in Glasgow around 12:10 pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The investigation is actively progressing to determine the complete circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to a representative from the Scottish Ambulance Service, emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene following a call received at 12:05 on April 28. The teams included an ambulance, two special operations response teams, a paramedic response car, and a critical care team. The injured individual was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
