Two tourists tragically fell to their deaths from a balcony at a Malaysian airport within hours of each other. The incidents involved a 27-year-old Chinese woman and a 30-year-old Algerian man in unrelated events on Friday, according to local authorities.
The Chinese woman was observed sitting on a ledge before falling around 2:20 pm on May 1. Eyewitnesses reported that she appeared distressed and was crying loudly just before the tragic incident. Despite efforts from security personnel and airport staff to calm her down, she resisted and ultimately fell to the KLIA2 loading bay. She was rushed to Putrajaya Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities disclosed that the woman was set to board a return flight to China on the same day, prompting an investigation into the circumstances leading up to her fall. The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR), with the cause still under scrutiny, as mentioned by KLIA police chief M Ravi.
Later that evening, around 9:10 pm, the Algerian man jumped from the third-floor outer balcony of Terminal 2. Witness accounts revealed that he bypassed a safety barrier before plunging from the ledge. Emergency services promptly attended to him at the scene and transferred him to Cyberjaya Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at 2:55 am the following day.
Local authorities have urged the public to refrain from speculating on either incident. Ravi emphasized that emergency medical teams provided immediate care, and the man was swiftly transported to the hospital for further treatment, where he later died.
