The son of two high-ranking Norwegian diplomats is reported to have died by suicide amidst an investigation into their connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Edward Juul Rod-Larsen, 25, who inherited $5 million from Epstein, was found deceased in Oslo. The probe into his parents, Terje Rod-Larsen and Mona Juul, was initiated following revelations in US Department of Justice files, although neither parent has faced accusations of misconduct.

The family’s involvement with Epstein, including a visit to his private island in 2011, has surfaced in emails disclosed by the DOJ. Norwegian and French authorities are now conducting a joint investigation after it was revealed that Epstein bequeathed $10 million each to Edward and his twin sister, Emma, in his will, similar to the amount left to Ghislaine Maxwell.

The couple’s lawyers attribute Edward’s tragic death to the intense public scrutiny surrounding their financial ties to Epstein. Rod-Larsen, a former UN Deputy Secretary-General, and Juul, a former State Secretary in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have a history of diplomatic service, contributing significantly to the Oslo Accords. Juul recently resigned from her ambassadorial position amid inquiries into her connections with Epstein, clarifying that her interactions with Epstein were primarily due to her husband’s relationship with him.

The couple, known for their peace efforts, have been unfairly linked to Epstein, leading to unwarranted speculation and scrutiny. The tragic event underscores the complexity of suicide, with the family emphasizing the need for sensitivity and caution when discussing such delicate matters.
