Two employees of a bank were fatally shot during a robbery in Kentucky, with the perpetrator still on the run, according to police officials.
The tragic incident occurred at a U.S. Bank branch in Berea, where a male and female staff member were gunned down by an armed individual wearing a gray-white hoodie, gloves, and a mask. Trooper Scottie Pennington of the Kentucky State Police conveyed that efforts were underway to apprehend the assailant, emphasizing the loss of community members.
Law enforcement authorities, including local and state police, the FBI, and federal agencies, mobilized a search operation using various resources like helicopters, drones, and canines. The suspect’s mode of escape, whether by vehicle, on foot, or with any stolen items, remained undisclosed.
In a bid to solicit information and aid in the apprehension, state police shared a photo of the suspect on social media, urging the public to come forward with any leads or identification.
Residents were advised to report any suspicious activities, with special attention to unusual pet behavior, and maintain vigilance by keeping outdoor lights on and ensuring charged phones. Following the incident, schools in the area implemented lockdown procedures until safety was confirmed, necessitating parental pickup for students.
