A hiker’s body has been discovered in the Berwyn Mountains after a search operation was launched by North Wales Police and North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR). The walker was reported overdue on Sunday in the rugged terrain of north east Wales, prompting the search effort.

NEWSAR confirmed that their team conducted a thorough search in challenging conditions before locating the missing individual. The recovery operation was described as long and demanding, with team members showing professionalism and compassion throughout the process.

The volunteers of NEWSAR, who are available around the clock, were commended for their dedicated efforts during the search, along with the partner agencies involved. The Berwyn Mountains, a popular hiking destination in Wales, attract visitors from across the UK, offering various trails and peaks exceeding 600 meters.

Visitors are advised to be well-prepared when exploring the area, as mobile phone coverage is limited and encountering other individuals may be infrequent. The region boasts 24 peaks over 600 meters, providing diverse hiking opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.
