A motorist was apprehended after two police officers and another individual were hospitalized in an alleged hit-and-run incident. Law enforcement officers approached the vehicle in Hamilton, Scotland, on Fleming Way at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The driver reportedly fled the scene, injuring one officer before colliding with a parked vehicle while fleeing.
The collision resulted in injuries to a 22-year-old male passenger and another police officer. All three individuals were taken to the hospital, with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Subsequently, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the occurrence and was also transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Fleming Way remains closed as collision investigators conduct their inquiries.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland stated, “During the attempt to flee, one officer sustained injuries. The vehicle was then involved in a crash with a stationary vehicle nearby. The 22-year-old male passenger and another officer sustained injuries in the collision. They were all hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.”
“The 18-year-old male driver fled the scene but was later located, arrested in connection with the incident, and taken to the hospital as a precaution. Fleming Way is currently inaccessible to allow for crash investigations.”
