“UK Set for Warm Weather with Highs of 23C on May 1”

The pleasant weather that has been enjoyed across much of the UK in recent days is expected to continue into the beginning of next month. New weather maps indicate warm conditions with highs reaching up to 23C on May 1 in many regions of the country. London and parts of the East of England, such as Norwich and the North Norfolk Coast, are forecasted to experience the hottest temperatures, peaking at 23C. Similarly, areas near Norwich and North Norfolk can expect pleasant weather.

Temperatures of 21C to 22C are predicted in Kent, including Southend-on-Sea, as well as in cities like Cambridge, Colchester, Ipswich, and Margate. The warm spell is set to start early in the day, with London expecting 22C and Kent, Norfolk, and Suffolk forecasted to reach 21C.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast for April 30 to May 9 suggests dry and sunny weather with light winds, although some mist and fog may develop overnight. Towards the first week of May, the weather may become more changeable with an increased chance of showers or rain, along with possible strong winds. Temperatures are likely to be near or slightly above normal during this period.

The UK has been experiencing mild conditions, with the Met Office anticipating pleasant and bright weather in the coming days. Highs in the low to mid-20s are expected across England and Wales, with some areas possibly reaching temperatures of 24C or even 25C.

Looking ahead to May 9 to May 23, low pressure systems are expected to dominate, bringing showers or longer periods of rain with potential strong winds. Temperatures may be close to or slightly below normal initially, but later in the month, more settled and drier conditions could develop with temperatures rising slightly above normal.

Spring in the UK has seen unusually warm weather, with a peak temperature of 26.6C recorded at Kew Gardens in south-west London on April 8. The highest April temperature on record remains 29.4C, recorded in London in 1949.

Met Office deputy chief forecaster Steven Keate mentioned that high pressure will continue to influence the weekend weather, leading to dry conditions with sunny spells in most places. Some cloud cover and patchy rain may affect parts of Scotland, but temperatures are expected to rise steadily, reaching the low 20s on Friday and over the weekend. Coastal areas may experience slightly cooler temperatures due to onshore breezes.
