Prince Harry paid an unexpected visit to Ukraine, commending the nation for its courageous defense against Russia. Upon arriving in Kyiv via train, Harry was welcomed by Ramina Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the executive director of the Open Ukraine Foundation, who orchestrated the Kyiv Security Forum following a deadly drone strike in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region. During a speech to global leaders in Kyiv, the prince is anticipated to portray Ukraine as “the front line of democracy” and denounce Putin’s regime for its “systematic and deliberate” war crimes, emphasizing that the conflict is not just about territory but also about fundamental values.

His remarks come amid a series of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine, resulting in significant damage to energy infrastructure and leaving many parts of the capital without heating. Prince Harry expressed his desire to raise awareness about the challenges Ukraine is facing, emphasizing the importance of supporting the country’s efforts. This visit marks his third trip to Ukraine since the onset of Putin’s invasion in February 2022.

The former British soldier is scheduled to meet with participants of the Invictus Games in Ukraine, a platform where injured veterans rehabilitate through sports. Harry stated his intention to reconnect with the Invictus community, support Ukraine’s fight, and highlight the remarkable work being done under challenging circumstances. Following a recent visit to Australia with his wife Meghan, Harry’s visit to Ukraine underscores his commitment to standing by those assisting Ukraine in its struggle.

Members of the Royal Family, including Prince William, have previously praised Ukraine for its resilience and displayed solidarity with the country in the face of external threats. Prince William notably rode a Challenger 2 tank as a demonstration of Britain’s military presence in a show of force against potential Russian aggression towards NATO.
