Former model Jodie Marsh has been granted a new license to house monkeys following a lengthy legal dispute. The 47-year-old has received approval to care for 12 marmosets at her rescue center in Lindsell, near Great Dunmow, Essex, after a successful court battle against Uttlesford District Council. Marsh expressed her joy at the council’s decision, emphasizing the importance of having the license to accommodate primates in need under the new primate law.
The Animal Welfare (Primate Licences) (England) Regulations 2024 have implemented stricter regulations to safeguard the welfare of primates in England. Marsh’s primate license is valid from April 6, 2024, to April 5, 2029, with concerns raised about the fate of small monkeys if their owners fail to comply with the new requirements.
Known for her appearances in the ITV series Essex Wives, Marsh manages various animals at her 3.5-acre Fripps Farm, including alpacas, emus, and reptiles, which she established in 2020 with funding support from OnlyFans. Recently, Marsh faced allegations of assaulting a man at her farm and is set to go to trial in May next year after denying the charges at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
