“Surfer Dies Despite Rescue Efforts at Cornwall Beach”

A tragic incident unfolded on Towans Beach in Hayle, Cornwall, as a surfer lost his life despite rescue efforts. The victim, identified as 51-year-old Paul Norman Faulkner, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services, including the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and Devon and Cornwall Police, responded to the incident around 1:25 pm on Monday, April 13. Reports indicated that Faulkner experienced a medical emergency after surfing in the Sandy Acres area of Hayle.

Authorities confirmed that the surfer suffered a medical episode on the beach, leading to his untimely death. Devon and Cornwall Police stated that the local man’s family has been notified of the tragic event.

An inquest into the death of Mr. Faulkner, a resident of St Ives, has been initiated and will proceed at a later date.
