Nina Bakhshi shared her account of falling from a bridge while vacationing with friends, sustaining multiple fractures that quickly escalated into a critical medical emergency.
As detailed in a GoFundMe fundraiser aimed at aiding her rehabilitation, Nina described the chaotic aftermath of her fall, noting the absence of immediate medical assistance at the site.
She narrated how she had to be carried for approximately 30 minutes without access to emergency equipment until eventually being transported by a truck for about an hour to a medical facility for critical care.
Without travel insurance at the time of the accident and no coverage from a local insurance plan linked to the park, Nina’s family had to quickly pool resources, max out credit limits, and borrow money to cover escalating hospital expenses as her condition deteriorated.
Due to the incident occurring over a weekend and logistical challenges, her surgery was delayed for nearly 28 hours post-accident. Nina, originally from Los Angeles, later provided an emotional update detailing the extent of her injuries, expressing gratitude that she retained mobility in her lower back and legs.
