A couple vacationing in Thailand were shocked to find their dogs being mistreated by their hired pet sitter, after installing CCTV cameras to monitor their pets.

Natalie Horlor and her husband, Duncan, from Solihull, hired a dogsitter named Paige Williams from Fur & Filly PetCare Services to look after their collection of animals while they were on holiday in August 2024.

Upon their return, the couple noticed their dogs were behaving oddly and distressed. Reviewing the footage from their doggy cam, they discovered Williams and her partner, Bradley Archer, physically abusing the dogs by kicking them and dragging them by their collars.

The Horlors reported the incident to the RSPCA and the police, who initiated an investigation based on the 51 video clips submitted by the couple.

One of the submitted clips captured Williams saying, “I will never look after your dogs again, my animals have suffered this month. My animals. I’ve had enough.”

RSPCA Inspector Ben Jones revealed that one of the dogs, Ayrton, appeared to have endured the majority of the abuse from Williams and Archer. The abuse included locking Ayrton in a crate, tethering him to a tree with no access to water, and threatening him with physical harm.

The couple expressed their distress over the incident, noting that their dogs had displayed lasting behavioral changes and fear after the abuse. Williams and Archer pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges, with Williams receiving a community order, unpaid work, and fines, while both were banned from keeping animals for seven years.

The Horlors have since adjusted their plans to ensure their pets are always cared for by a trusted individual, avoiding similar incidents in the future.
