Bank Holiday Monday is expected to bring the hottest weather of the year so far, with the Met Office predicting highs of 31C in certain parts of the UK. The national weather service anticipates Monday to be “warm and dry for most,” following a “very warm” bank holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine and light winds. London could experience scorching temperatures reaching 31C, while much of southern England is likely to see temperatures in the high 20s.
Weather maps by WXCharts, utilizing MetDesk data, indicate that at least 56 counties could enjoy temperatures of 26C or higher by 6pm on Monday evening. The warmer weather is expected to extend across much of England and Wales, though some exposed coastal areas may be slightly cooler, particularly in parts of south-west England, the south-east coast, as well as areas of Cumbria and Yorkshire in the north.
In Scotland, only a few areas, such as the Scottish Borders, Lothian, and Aberdeenshire, are forecasted to reach similar temperatures, while Northern Ireland could experience highs of 25C. The current record for the year, set on April 8 at Kew Gardens with 26.6C, may soon be surpassed.
Looking ahead to the weather from Friday to Sunday, the Met Office projects “very warm” conditions over the Bank Holiday weekend with abundant sunshine and light winds. However, there is a possibility of heavy, thundery showers on Saturday and some rain in the northwest.
The Met Office’s extended weather forecast from Monday, May 25, to Wednesday, June 3, suggests warm and dry conditions for most areas on Bank Holiday Monday, with high pressure expected to dominate the UK throughout the week, resulting in continued fine weather. Some patchy rain may affect the far north intermittently, with a chance of a few showers in the far south. Temperatures are predicted to be above normal, providing a very warm feel at times with light winds.
