A community is in shock after a child was airlifted to the hospital, and tragically, two 15-month-old twin girls were discovered deceased at the same residence.
The parents of the children have been accused of neglect leading to the death of the twins. The heartbreaking incident took place in Beuvrages, near Valenciennes (Nord), France, with the twins found lifeless in their bed at around 1 pm on Monday, June 29.
The mother and father, aged 32 and 35, were formally charged on Wednesday, July 1, as stated by RTL. A post-mortem examination revealed that the twins passed away due to dehydration and were malnourished. Their four other siblings, aged three to six, who also resided in the home, were found dehydrated, with one child in critical condition and airlifted to the hospital.
The family, living in social housing managed by Société immobilière du Grand Hainaut (SIGH), alerted emergency services upon discovering the twins unresponsive. The parents are currently in custody after being charged, confirmed by the Valenciennes prosecutor’s office. The surviving siblings have been placed under the care of Child Welfare Services.
Reports from LeParisien indicate that the family was not under the oversight of a juvenile court judge, and no prior issues had been reported. The mayor of Beuvrages mentioned that the family had only recently moved to the area about two months before the tragic loss of the twins.
