President Donald Trump of the United States met with Britain’s King Charles, sparking controversy over the White House’s comparison of the two leaders.
On Tuesday, April 28, the White House shared a photo featuring both leaders taken during the monarch’s official visit to the US.
The photo was captioned with the words “TWO KINGS,” accompanied by a crown emoji.
Former US Assistant Secretary Philip Reeker, speaking with LBC’s Iain Dale, expressed his view, calling the comparison “somewhat embarrassing.”
Reeker suggested that the post was aimed at undermining the “No Kings” movement that opposes Trump’s reign, labeling him as a “king-like” figure.
Critics have likened Trump to a monarch, sparking a wave of “No Kings” demonstrations across the US, denouncing his policies on immigration and military interventions in the Middle East.
