US President Donald Trump has stated that Britain’s King Charles is aligned with him in ensuring Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon. The US has been engaged in conflict with Iran since carrying out joint strikes with Israel on key Iranian sites on February 28. Following retaliatory strikes from Iran, a short-term ceasefire has been agreed upon, but a long-term peace deal remains elusive.
During a state dinner at the White House on Tuesday, April 29, Trump asserted, “We have successfully defeated that adversary and are resolute in preventing them from obtaining nuclear capabilities, a stance supported by King Charles.” Trump also emphasized the commitment to oppose communism, fascism, and tyranny.
Addressing 120 attendees at the formal banquet, Trump reflected on US history. King Charles and Queen Camilla met with President Trump during their state visit to the US, with King Charles receiving a standing ovation for his speech to the US Congress earlier that day. In return, Trump commended King Charles for his address and acknowledged past challenges in the relationship between the two nations.
Guests at the dinner included golfing champion Rory McIlroy, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, and Apple’s Tim Cook, along with political figures such as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, UK counterpart Yvette Cooper, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
