Three horses tragically perished in separate accidents that resulted in the closure of a stretch of a major roadway. The incidents occurred on the A3 northbound just beyond Guildford, prompting a road shutdown between the A247 (Burntcommon) and the B2039 (Ockham) on Thursday morning.
Surrey Police responded to a call around 1:40 am regarding a collision between two loose horses and a lorry on the A3. Subsequently, another report came in about a car colliding with a horse. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered three deceased horses at the scene. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities in contact with the drivers of both vehicles.
In the aftermath of the incidents, the road has been closed temporarily, with diversions arranged as Highways England undertakes recovery operations. Significant delays of approximately an hour have formed as a result.
