Two women have lost their lives, and a nine-year-old boy has suffered severe injuries following a crash on the boundary between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
An 18-year-old male has been apprehended on suspicion of causing fatalities through reckless driving. The individual has been hospitalized due to sustaining injuries.
The collision involved two vehicles, a Vauxhall Meriva, and a Suzuki Alto, occurring on Common Lane, Pleasley, at approximately 6:20 am last Thursday. The two women in their twenties, passengers in the Suzuki, were declared deceased at the scene. The nine-year-old boy, also present in the Suzuki, has been hospitalized with life-altering injuries.
Additionally, three males in the Vauxhall sustained injuries, with two of them being seriously injured, according to reports by Derbyshire Live.
Derbyshire Police took the 18-year-old man into custody at the scene under suspicion of causing fatalities through dangerous driving. Due to his collision-related injuries, he was transported to the hospital, where he remains.
In an official statement, the police department appealed to witnesses of the incident, urging them to come forward with any information.
