A statement has been released by Aerodiana airline in response to a tragic incident in Peru where a small aircraft crashed, resulting in the loss of all 13 individuals aboard. The crash occurred near Nazca, claiming the lives of 13 people, as confirmed by local authorities.
The aircraft was reportedly conducting a sightseeing flight over the Nazca Lines, a collection of ancient geoglyphs etched into the Nazca desert by indigenous populations centuries ago. The unique designs of animals are best observed from aerial perspectives or designated viewing platforms.
The flight departed from Ica and was operated by Aerodiana, a Peruvian airline with a longstanding history of offering scenic tours over the Nazca Lines using Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft.
Peru’s Ministry for Trade and Tourism disclosed that the ill-fated flight carried 11 foreign tourists and two crew members, including two German, two Spanish, and seven Italian nationals. Authorities in Peru have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Expressing deep condolences, the Provincial Municipality of Nasca conveyed sympathies to the families of the victims and clarified details surrounding the flight operation. Aerodiana also expressed profound sorrow for the tragedy, promising cooperation with authorities and support for the affected families.
Formal identification of the victims is yet to be completed.
