The incident occurred on the A7 motorway near Malaga around 2:30 am local time when two vehicles collided, leading one to veer off an embankment.

Ian McCullagh, the sole survivor of the crash, sustained severe injuries and is currently hospitalized in Spain. All the deceased individuals hailed from Mullingar, Co Westmeath. Ian, aged 31, had wed Amy in southern Spain in August 2024 as reported by the Irish Mirror.

Tributes have been pouring in for Michaela Newcombe, who served as the head receptionist at Havan Sun Mullingar beauty school. Described as a kind and caring soul, friends remember her as always radiating positivity and offering kind words to everyone she encountered.

The community, including local Sinn Féin councillor Julie McCourt, is deeply shocked by the tragedy.
