“Tragic Collision Claims Life of 5-Year-Old in Newry”

A tragic incident involving a van and a five-year-old girl in the Springfarm Heights area of Newry, Northern Ireland, has resulted in the girl’s death. The collision, which took place around 9.25pm on Sunday, June 21, involved a black Ford Tourneo van. The young girl was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

According to reports, the driver of the van, a 40-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene. Detective Inspector Stewart from the Police Service’s Collision Investigation Unit stated that the driver is currently in custody as investigations into the circumstances of the collision continue. The Carnagat Road remains closed at its intersections with Springfarm Heights and Stony Hill.

Authorities are urging witnesses or individuals with relevant footage, such as dash-cam recordings, to come forward and assist in the ongoing inquiries. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact PSNI at 101, quoting reference 1552 21/06/26, or submit details online.
