A mother who tragically lost her life in a car accident in Spain will be laid to rest on Friday. Amy McCullagh, along with three others, including her husband, was involved in the crash while on vacation.
Amy, a mother of three from County Westmeath, Ireland, passed away alongside Michaela Newcombe and her brother-in-law, Mark McCullagh. Amy’s husband, Ian McCullagh, who sustained severe injuries in the incident, is currently in critical condition in a Spanish hospital.
The group was on a holiday trip in Malaga when their vehicle veered off the A7 motorway and plummeted 100 feet down a ravine in the early hours of June 28. Spanish authorities reported that the collision occurred around 2:30 am involving a taxi and a car, leading to one of the vehicles falling down an embankment.
Amy’s funeral service is scheduled at the Church of the Nativity in Ballynacargy, as reported by the Irish Mirror. She will be laid to rest at Sonna Cemetery following the ceremony. She leaves behind two daughters and a son, with the family requesting donations to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust in her memory.
Described as a kind and vibrant soul, tributes poured in for Michaela Newcombe, who worked as a head receptionist at Havan Sun Mullingar beauty school. The local community, including Sinn Féin councillor Julie McCourt, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and extended their sympathies to the affected families in Mullingar and beyond.
