A tragic incident in Jamaica has claimed the life of a woman who suffered severe blunt force trauma. Shockingly, her relatives were informed of the heartbreaking news by the mother of the alleged perpetrator.

The family of the victim, Melissa Kerry Samnath, residing in New York, received a call revealing the tragic demise of Samnath while she was in Jamaica. Prior to this, they had received a distressing text message from Samnath, sent just before 11 pm upon her arrival in Queens Village, New York.

The message urged them to contact the authorities, indicating her location at a pink house. This communication, received shortly before her 37th birthday, turned out to be the final contact her family had with her. Last week, Samnath’s niece formally identified her body before a post-mortem examination confirmed fatal blunt-force trauma to her head.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, they were alerted on April 29 about Samnath’s death after she was dropped off at Cornwall Regional Hospital in St James. Expressing her sorrow, Samnath’s niece, referred to as Janice Wynter, emphasized that her aunt was a caring individual.

Wynter recalled her aunt’s compassionate nature, highlighting her role in caring for family members in times of need. The family is struggling to comprehend the tragic events and the motive behind the heinous act. Investigators suspect that Samnath had contact with her alleged assailant online before traveling to Jamaica for her birthday celebration.

Authorities tracked her to the suspect’s residence in Norwood, St James, where they found bloodstains and some of Samnath’s belongings. Despite signs of violence, neighbors reported no disturbances during the incident, prompting speculation about possible silencing.

CCTV footage captured the suspect transporting Samnath’s luggage while she followed, leaving her Airbnb rental. Wynter expressed anger at the suspect’s callousness in informing his mother about the crime and leaving Samnath at the hospital without assistance.

A manhunt is underway for the suspect, with concerns about the safety of women in the area. A fundraising campaign has been initiated to support the funeral expenses, honoring Samnath as a cherished and adventurous individual who touched the lives of those around her with her warmth and love for travel.
