In a disturbing incident, three women were brutally raped, tortured, and killed in a live broadcast on Instagram, according to police reports. The heinous acts were witnessed by approximately 45 individuals within a closed group on the social media platform. The victims were identified as Lara Gutierrez, 15, Brenda del Castillo, 20, and Morena Verdi, 21.
Reports suggest that the women were lured to a remote location near Buenos Aires under false pretenses by a narcotics gang, who accused them of theft. Subsequently, they were subjected to extreme torment and ultimately murdered in what is being labeled as a “revenge killing” orchestrated by the gang leader. The criminal mastermind, believed to be a Peruvian national who has fled the country, allegedly ordered the gruesome executions as a warning to others.
Security Minister Javier Alonso of Buenos Aires confirmed that the harrowing acts were filmed and streamed live online to a restricted audience. The motive behind the murders is believed to be a message from the gang leader regarding the consequences of crossing him in drug-related dealings.
The bodies of the victims were discovered five days after they went missing, buried in a garden. Authorities have apprehended four suspects thus far and are actively pursuing leads to capture those responsible for the heinous crimes. The incident has been described as a “narco act of revenge,” with reports indicating that some of the victims had allegedly stolen cocaine from the gang.
Each of the women suffered horrific fates, with Gutierrez having her fingers amputated, Del Castillo sustaining a skull fracture and abdominal mutilation post-mortem, and Verdi being asphyxiated with a plastic bag. The tragedy unfolded after the women were deceived into attending what was portrayed as a social gathering, where they were promised payment.
The community has been deeply shaken by the appalling events, with calls for justice and support for the victims’ families. Law enforcement efforts have intensified, resulting in several arrests and ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the brutal murders. Despite initial confusion over the platform used for the live stream, it has been clarified that Instagram, not TikTok, was the medium through which the atrocities were broadcasted.
