Two women are in critical condition after a telegraph pole collapsed on them at a bustling train station. An air ambulance swiftly responded to the incident at Pontyclun station in Rhondda, Wales, around 12:50 pm on Thursday, where the women were found trapped under the pole.
One of the women sustained “life-threatening” injuries, while the other was also labeled critical. The pole, carrying live electricity wires, struck the women in the station’s car park before they were urgently transported to the University Hospital of Wales for medical care.
According to a spokesperson from South Wales Police, they received a call reporting the two women trapped under the pole at Pontyclun train station. The women are currently undergoing treatment at the University Hospital of Wales.
Pontyclun station, situated on the south Wales line connecting Cardiff and Maesteg, occasionally operates regional Swanline services running between Cardiff Central and Swansea.
