Police reported that a car accident early this morning resulted in the deaths of two individuals and led to the arrest of a teenager.
Authorities in Greater Manchester disclosed that two women, aged 57 and 59, sustained fatal injuries and tragically passed away at the scene in Bolton.
A 19-year-old male, who was driving a VW Polo, has been taken into custody on suspicion of causing the deaths through dangerous driving, according to the police.
In an official statement, the police mentioned, “Investigators from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are seeking information and eyewitnesses in connection with a fatal traffic collision in Bolton.
“At approximately 7:42 a.m. today (Monday, December 22, 2025), we responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of Scout Road, Smithills Dean Road, Colliers Row Road, and Coal Pit Road.
“The VW Polo driver was traveling along Scout Road when the vehicle collided with two pedestrians walking on Smithills Dean Road.
“Both pedestrians, aged 57 and 59, suffered fatal injuries and unfortunately passed away at the scene. The 19-year-old driver has been detained on suspicion of causing two deaths through dangerous driving.”
Authorities are continuing their investigations into the incident and are urging anyone with relevant information or who was in the vicinity when the accident occurred to step forward.
They are specifically seeking individuals who witnessed the event or possess dashcam footage of it.
