A 15-year-old teenager has been apprehended on suspicion of plotting to commit murder after a 16-year-old youth was critically injured in a shooting incident in Sheffield. Police responded to the scene on London Road in the Highfield district of the city at 5:15 pm on Monday, where they discovered the injured teen with a gunshot wound. He was promptly taken to the hospital and remains in a life-threatening condition.
In a recent update, South Yorkshire Police disclosed that a teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Investigations are ongoing, and a section of London Road remains closed as authorities delve into the matter.
The police department stated, “A 15-year-old has been taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder following the shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Sheffield. Our priority is to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure justice for the victim. We continue to make progress in our inquiry, and the arrest signifies a step forward in the investigation.”
Superintendent Martin Simcock of Sheffield emphasized, “Violent crimes, especially gun-related incidents, have no place in our community. The severity of the situation, with a young individual fighting for his life, is distressing and unacceptable.
