Kyren Wilson experienced a burglary at his residence while participating in the Championship League Snooker event. Despite securing a 3-0 win over Haydon Pinhey, Wilson was unaware of the break-in occurring at his home during the tournament. Upon discovering the burglary, Wilson chose to withdraw from the competition. The stolen items included luxury watches, jewelry, and cash earmarked for a charitable donation.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account, Wilson detailed the incident, mentioning the theft of valuable items such as Cartier and Audemars Piguet watches, a Rolex Datejust, and a sapphire necklace. The stolen cash, intended for a donation to the BeMoreFab Children’s Cancer Charity, added to the distress of the situation due to its personal significance.
Wilson urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation. He also requested support in spreading awareness to aid in the recovery of the stolen items. Consequently, Wilson’s withdrawal from the tournament resulted in walkovers being awarded to Pinhey, Dylan Emery, and Michal Szubarczyk. Wilson’s next competitive appearance is scheduled for the Shanghai Masters starting on July 27.
Additionally, it was announced that Wilson would participate in a snooker exhibition event in October to benefit the BeMoreFab charity. The event, organized by TWSportsManagement and involving players like Stuart Bingham and Joe O’Connor, aims to raise funds for the charity. Wilson expressed pride in supporting the cause and emphasized the importance of community involvement and fundraising efforts.
