Serena Williams is set to form a formidable mixed doubles partnership with Carlos Alcaraz as she makes her comeback at the U.S. Open. The U.S. Tennis Association revealed on Saturday that Williams and Alcaraz had received a wild card entry into the tournament’s mixed doubles main draw, which kicks off on Tuesday.
This marks Williams’ first appearance at the U.S. Open since 2022, following her return to the tennis scene earlier this summer. While it remains uncertain whether she will participate in the singles event in New York, the USTA has kept a women’s wild card spot open for her if she decides to compete. At Wimbledon, Williams competed in singles and teamed up with her sister Venus for doubles at the Cincinnati Open.
On the other hand, Alcaraz recently confirmed his comeback to defend his U.S. Open singles title after recovering from a right wrist injury that had kept him out of action since April.
