Police have discovered a second body while searching for a missing elderly man in connection with a suspected murder-suicide case. Nottinghamshire Police initiated a murder investigation after Brian Wright, an 82-year-old man, was reported missing from his residence in Langford near Newark on November 20. Subsequently, on November 22, law enforcement found the body of a 52-year-old man in an outbuilding.

The 52-year-old man, identified as Charles Wright, the eldest of Brian’s three sons residing in Winthorpe, was not a subject of suspicion in his death, but authorities believed it was linked to Brian’s disappearance. In a recent development, officers discovered a body in a field on Tuesday, with recovery operations completed the following day. The deaths are now being treated as a suspected murder-suicide, with no active search for additional suspects, as confirmed by the police.

Nottinghamshire Police released a statement, detailing the recovery of a body in the Langford area, mentioning that search teams were deployed after receiving information about Brian’s demise. Although formal identification is pending, Mr. Wright’s family has been notified and is receiving support. The recent discovery follows the earlier finding of Charles Wright’s body and is part of the ongoing suspected murder-suicide investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow expressed the tragic nature of the case and emphasized the importance of respecting the family’s privacy during this challenging period. The community has been thanked for their assistance in locating Brian and the professionalism of search teams. Further examinations and procedures will be carried out as part of the investigative process.

Brian Wright, a long-time resident of Langford, lived on the family farm, Hall Farm, with his wife, Judith, and one of his sons. He was actively involved in the local church and parish council.
