A significant search and rescue mission is currently in progress following the disappearance of a 15-year-old boy while swimming at a nature reserve in Hampshire.
Emergency response teams are actively searching the area at Testwood Lakes near Totton since approximately 1:45 pm. The search involves multiple agencies including the National Police Air Service, South Central Ambulance Service, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Service.
The incident occurred as the record for the hottest June was broken with a scorching temperature of 36.1C recorded in Gosport, Hampshire today. Hampshire Police have cautioned the public to steer clear of the vicinity.
According to a police spokesperson, a collaborative effort is underway after a report of a 15-year-old boy going missing while swimming at Testwood Lakes near Totton was received at 1:35 pm on Wednesday, June 24. The area is currently restricted as the search operation continues. Authorities have urged people to avoid the area.
Marine units have been deployed to assist in the search, in conjunction with teams from NPAS, South Central Ambulance Service, and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire Service. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
Testwood Lakes expressed deep concern over the incident and stated that the nature reserve has been closed until further notice. They have joined forces with the police in requesting the public to stay away from the area at this time.
