A Ryanair aircraft carrying British tourists had to make an unexpected diversion in-flight due to a sudden issue. The flight, numbered FR1667, was originally bound for Bristol from Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, with an expected arrival time of 5 pm GMT. However, after approximately 1.5 hours in the air, the plane was rerouted to Lanzarote, another Canary Island, due to reported problems with certain toilets on board, as confirmed by air traffic controllers on social media.

The Boeing 737 was flying north of the Canary Islands over the Atlantic when the decision was made to turn back, according to flight tracking data. Efforts to reach Ryanair for a statement regarding the incident were unsuccessful on Monday night, leaving unanswered questions about whether passengers were able to proceed to Bristol or had to stay overnight in Lanzarote.

This incident follows a recent event involving a Jet2 flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife, where the flight crew requested a priority landing due to an alleged assault on a cabin crew member by a passenger. Air traffic controllers at the time reported the incident and medical assistance was requested upon landing for the crew member. The disruptive passenger was subsequently removed from the flight by police, as confirmed by a Jet2 spokesperson to the Mirror.
