Ronnie O’Sullivan has issued a strong message to snooker authorities, making it clear that financial considerations will determine his participation in future events. The seven-time world champion emphasized that he values his worth and will only compete if the compensation meets his expectations.

His comments came in response to the abrupt cancellation of the lucrative Saudi Arabia Masters, which was terminated prematurely despite being part of a long-term agreement. O’Sullivan, who also operates a Snooker Academy in Riyadh, emphasized that whether the event is held in Saudi Arabia or any other location, the financial terms must be satisfactory for him to attend.

“I have a standard requirement wherever I go, be it Saudi Arabia, Qatar, China, or elsewhere. If the financial aspect is not met, I won’t hesitate to skip the event,” O’Sullivan stated.

When asked about the potential impact on his Academy, O’Sullivan expressed confidence in having alternative options available. He emphasized the importance of evaluating each opportunity based on the circumstances before making a decision.

Known for being selective with his tournament appearances, O’Sullivan highlighted the significance of having sponsors onboard to support his participation. He stressed that while he gives his all during competitions, he values his enjoyment of the game and acknowledges that he is not beholden to it.

Following his recent defeat at the World Championship against John Higgins, O’Sullivan reflected on the loss and expressed a positive outlook on his performance. Despite the disappointment, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced perspective and enjoying the game.

Looking ahead, O’Sullivan mentioned his upcoming participation in the World Seniors Championship at the Crucible, indicating his commitment to fulfilling his professional obligations. He acknowledged the necessity of returning to work and meeting financial responsibilities.
