Rescue Mission Underway After Yacht Passenger Overboard

A significant rescue mission is in progress following an incident where a passenger reportedly went overboard from a high-end yacht in the waters of the English Channel close to Brighton.

According to a coastguard spokesperson, the alert was received at 10:19 am today regarding an individual falling off a vessel near Newhaven. The search operation involves RNLI lifeboats from Shoreham and Newhaven, an HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter, a Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft, and two nearby vessels in the area.

The individual is said to have fallen from a catamaran in the vicinity of the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, with a female companion onboard sounding the alarm. The yacht is currently being towed back to land while coastguard officials and lifeboats continue their efforts to locate the missing individual.
