Motorists have been advised to report drivers who violate supermarket car park age limit regulations in 2025. EMG Motor Group, experts in motoring, recommend that drivers inform a manager if they witness misuse of parent and child parking bays.
Parent and child parking bays, commonly found in supermarket car parks like Aldi, Asda, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons, are designated for parents and guardians with children aged 12 and under. Despite this, a study by Confused.com found that one in three of these bays are misused by drivers, leading to instances of road rage.
EMG Motor Group suggests not confronting the driver directly but instead reporting the incident to a store manager, who can enforce the car park rules. The RAC also warns against direct confrontation, as it may escalate into a hostile situation. It is advised to speak to a store manager if misuse of the parking bay is observed.
A recent online poll by Confused.com in June 2022, involving 2,000 UK adults, revealed that 9% of drivers without children admitted to using parent and child parking spaces improperly. Reasons for misuse included the availability of other spaces, the need for closer parking, and difficulty in finding alternative parking spots.
