A campaigner from Reform UK, who faced suspension from the party due to allegations of racism, has been seen actively participating in campaigning activities in Makerfield. Adam Mitula, who had been suspended earlier for controversial messages found on an online account linked to him by Hope Not Hate, has resurfaced on the campaign trail for Nigel Farage’s party in preparation for an upcoming by-election.

Despite the previous suspension following the discovery of offensive messages, including the use of racial slurs and derogatory comments towards Jewish women, Mitula has reappeared in Makerfield, as shown in recent posts on his Facebook page and in ITV News coverage. Labour expressed concerns over Reform’s divisive tactics and urged clarification from Nigel Farage regarding Mitula’s current standing within the party.

Nigel Farage has committed to focusing efforts on the election to prevent Andy Burnham’s return to Parliament. As Burnham is expected to be Labour’s candidate for the vacant seat, Reform is yet to announce its candidate for the by-election. Mitula, who played a significant role in a previous campaign, remains under scrutiny for his past controversial online posts, which he claimed were misrepresented.

Efforts to reach Reform UK and Mitula for comments have been made. Mitula previously defended himself, stating that his remarks were distorted and that he supported the Jewish community. The party’s disciplinary process regarding Mitula remains confidential, as stated by a Reform UK spokesperson in February. The situation unfolds as the political landscape in Makerfield evolves leading up to the upcoming by-election.
