Prince William has called on the CEOs of major tech companies to embody the leadership qualities they aspired to in their youth in an effort to address global environmental challenges. During the launch of London Climate Action Week, the Prince of Wales gathered a group of prominent tech executives from companies such as Google, Meta, TikTok, Amazon, Alibaba, Baidu, eBay, Etsy, and Pinterest to announce a joint commitment to combat wildlife trafficking on their platforms.
Representing the Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife, William expressed hope for the future while emphasizing the need for increased efforts to combat climate change and protect wildlife. Joined by actors and environmentalists Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch at the Frameless exhibition near Marble Arch, the prince urged the business leaders to demonstrate greater ambition and courage in their environmental initiatives.
Responding to a question from host June Sarpong about the arguments CEOs should present to their boards, William highlighted the importance of emphasizing the positive impact on their businesses. He commended the innovative work of participants in the Earthshot Prize awards, which has inspired optimism for the future.

Having initiated the global environmental awards in 2020, William emphasized the impact of the program, which awards £1 million prizes annually to five innovators for a decade. During a forum for The Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife, William discussed the future beyond the Earthshot decade ending in 2030. Engaging with prominent figures like former US Vice President Al Gore, wildlife filmmakers Bertie Gregory and Malaika Vaz, and poet Sir Ben Okri, the prince indicated a focus on Earthshot while acknowledging the need for strategic planning ahead.
