President Donald Trump has given the go-ahead for the US Navy to commence the construction of two new battleships. The announcement was made in West Palm Beach, Florida, where the president was joined by US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of the Navy John Phelan, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

During the address, President Trump emphasized the uniqueness of the new ships, stating that they have been in the design phase for an extended period. He described them as the fastest, largest, and most powerful battleships ever to be built, surpassing any predecessors in history.

Accompanied by visual representations of the upcoming battleships, President Trump declared that they would serve as the flagship vessels of the American naval fleet. The new ships will be equipped with advanced weaponry, including guns, missiles, hypersonic weapons, and high-powered lasers. Trump highlighted the cutting-edge laser technology onboard, capable of targeting and eliminating threats with precision.

Revealing additional details, President Trump mentioned that the “Trump Class” battleships will be constructed from steel and have an estimated weight of 30-40,000 tonnes. While the initial phase involves the production of two vessels, plans are in place to expand the fleet to include 20-25 ships. A senior White House official confirmed that the new battleships will be designated as the “Trump Class,” as reported by US news network, NBC.
