A significant power outage at a prominent train station in the UK led to widespread disruptions in rail services. The incident at Leeds Station resulted in the cancellation or delay of numerous services as a signaling system fault was triggered by the outage. Passengers found themselves stranded at the station as multiple train operators advised against traveling and restricted public access beyond the gates.

Although some services had resumed by 4:30 pm, National Rail anticipated that the disruption would persist until 10 pm. Both TransPennine Express and Northern services reported delays, with trains departing from Leeds after 8:43 pm currently operating on schedule.

National Rail indicated that the disruption at Leeds Station was likely to continue until 10 pm, affecting various routes including those to and from London King’s Cross, Bradford, Sheffield, and Manchester. Trainline cautioned of ongoing “major disruption” until 5 pm despite the lines reopening.

An irate passenger, Adam Houghton, expressed frustration over the train cancellations at Leeds, highlighting the lack of staff communication leading to confusion and anger among travelers. Rail users were advised to seek specific service information through official channels for the latest updates.

The power outage and subsequent signaling system fault caused significant disruptions and delays at Leeds Station, prompting warnings for rail users to avoid travel if possible due to numerous cancellations, delays, and revisions. TransPennine Express informed passengers that all lines from Leeds were blocked due to the signal failure, affecting services between Manchester Victoria and York via Leeds and Manchester Victoria to Scarborough in both directions.
