A prominent technology firm specializing in AI-driven software is providing a £60,000 per year internship opportunity to recent school graduates.

Palantir Technologies is encouraging young individuals to bypass university debt by applying for its Meritocracy Fellowship program. Successful candidates will engage in full-time work at the company’s London headquarters for a five-month period, receiving a pro-rata salary of up to £60,000.

There is a potential for these interns to transition into permanent positions within the company with a higher salary, although this is not guaranteed.

As reported by The Sun, the interns will be involved in projects aimed at upholding Western values and supporting critical institutions like the NHS to address significant challenges.

Palantir aims to attract individuals considering pursuing computer science degrees at university. Eligible candidates must have completed their A-Levels or equivalent qualifications before the fellowship commences in October 2026.

The internship program will extend until February 2027.

Louis Mosley, Executive Vice President and Head of Palantir UK, stated, “Palantir seeks to recruit the finest tech talent in Britain, offering eighteen-year-olds the chance to transition directly from school into a work environment alongside top engineers globally… We believe practical learning at Palantir is more beneficial than spending years at university acquiring potentially outdated knowledge and accumulating substantial debt.”

Given the rapid evolution of technology, Palantir is intensifying its investment in Britain, foreseeing a significant role for the upcoming British tech talent in advancing AI accessibility.

This initiative comes at a time of escalating discontent related to the Plan 2 student loan structure, where interest rates are linked to Retail Prices Index (RPI) inflation plus a maximum of 3%, contingent on graduates’ income levels.

In her autumn budget announcement, Chancellor Rachel Reeves froze the salary threshold for loan repayments at £29,385 for a three-year period starting from April.

Acknowledging the shortcomings of the student loan system, Ms. Reeves labeled it as “broken” but indicated that resolving the issue was not a top governmental priority. Labour aims to address these challenges while prioritizing other pressing matters, as emphasized during the Chancellor’s recent Mais lecture in the City of London.

Ms. Reeves affirmed the need for improvements in the student loan framework while emphasizing the urgency of addressing broader issues affecting young individuals not engaged in education, employment, or training.
