Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to police reports.
Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at a downtown nightclub in the early hours of August 3, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the establishment, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have since been released on undertakings, as indicated by authorities in a news release on Thursday.
Although the specific nightclub was not disclosed, law enforcement specified that it was located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues. Allen has undergone medical evaluations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home, according to a statement released by the team on Thursday.
Expressing regret over the assault, Allen stated, “The incident should never have occurred, nor should it befall anyone for any reason.” He further shared his resilient spirit, declaring, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
