Reform leader Nigel Farage received an additional £270,000, nearly three times his parliamentary salary, for endorsing gold bullion. This substantial payment, categorized as a “brand ambassador” role for Direct Bullion, was disclosed in Mr. Farage’s recent update to the parliamentary financial interests register. It stands as his largest external payment to date, surpassing his annual MP salary of just over £98,000.
The payment from Direct Bullion was declared by the Reform UK leader for around four hours of work per month over a three-month period. Prior to this, Mr. Farage had disclosed two separate payments from the same company: £91,200 in February 2025 and £135,000 in November of the previous year. Additionally, he reported earning £18,402 for approximately six hours of presenting on GB News.
A spokesperson for Mr. Farage clarified that he serves as a brand ambassador for Direct Bullion, a fact previously acknowledged and reported. Recent coverage by the Mirror revealed that despite portraying himself as an advocate for the working class, the Reform leader possesses four properties and his partner owns another within his constituency.
Among his properties is a grade-II listed residence in the Surrey countryside purchased by Mr. Farage in May 2024, along with a seaside property acquired through his company Thorn in the Side Ltd for £499,995 in 2020. Meanwhile, questions persist regarding a £5 million gift from Thai-based billionaire Christopher Harborne, with ongoing scrutiny from Parliament’s standards commissioner on whether Mr. Farage was obligated to declare the gift.
During recent interviews, Mr. Farage defended the gift as a private matter and declined to disclose how it was utilized. When pressed on the purpose of the gift, he asserted his right to spend it as he pleases, even referencing extravagant purchases like Ferraris or betting on horseracing. In an interview with LBC, he emphasized his autonomy in deciding how to use the gift, dismissing external inquiries into its allocation.
