NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) have revealed their intention to shut down 46 mobile bank branches. Mobile banks, housed in vans or trucks that move around various locations, offer an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar branches. These mobile units cater to common banking needs like depositing money, cashing cheques, and basic account inquiries.
The closure of these mobile banking units by NatWest and RBS is scheduled for January 2026. The affected locations can be viewed in the full list provided below.
NatWest Group, the parent company of NatWest, RBS, and Ulster Bank, stated, “We are committed to building a sustainable branch network and are proud to be the sole UK bank running a cash-focused mobile branch service to reach communities with limited banking access nationwide. As part of our ongoing evaluation, we aim to optimize our network to ensure superior customer service. Although the number of routes will remain the same, we will eliminate a few stops where there is redundancy with banking hubs.”
In the event that your local bank branch closes and you require in-person assistance, any branch within the NatWest group can accommodate your everyday banking needs. For instance, NatWest patrons can utilize RBS branches, and vice versa. Additionally, the Post Office offers services such as cash deposits and withdrawals, balance inquiries, and cheque deposits.
